The49,000 clubs all over the world “Serving” their communities – in totally different service to ours –do – Serving those in need. We Lions have the international association that provides us with resources, tools and staff assistance to inspire and support us along our Lions journey. Even the learning can be fun with all our fellow Lions together.

This is the official application. https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/resources-for-members/resource-center .

The dues are a sum of its many parts. They are split into 2 halves to be paid annually. Comprises of International, Multiple District (National), District and Club dues. We pay dues to run the organisation which allows every Cent raised from the public to go back to the public – NOTHING OFF THE TOP.

The 1st - International - is set in Oak Brook, Chicago - our Head Office and naturally fluctuates with the exchange rate month to month.

2nd – Multiple District - is set for the whole of Australia – MD201 and increases by the CPI each year.

3rd – District- is our District dues have not increased since............ Can’t remember when. Been $25p.a. for years.

4th – the Club. Club dues are, naturally, set by each club. Some clubs do not charge dues believing in the old adage “You don’t make money out of your own members”. Other Clubs who have dinner meetings include the cost of the dinner in the dues. You can see why we do not include a figure in this explanation. So much variation. When you apply to a club to join, they will tell you the dues at that time.

All clubs have 2 Bank Accounts – Administration Account – for dues, shirts, anything for the club. It comes from the members, sponsorship, donations and club fundraisers at meetings. Activities Account – funds raised from the public is never used for the Club. Money raised from the public goes back to the public thru our Service and projects. We may get the assistance of grants from our International Foundation – LCIF or Australian Foundations on application - usually when what we want to do is too big for 1 club alone.

Though while our primary motivation for service, helping those in need, it’s amazing the way doing good also makes us feel good. Little things count big. The little light that switches on inside us when we perform a random act of kindness can multiply.

Starting in our own backyard or neighbour or better still a stranger. A random act of kindness can grow the good in our community. Kindness trickles upwards!
